As you may have seen in your child's folder today, our class is now subscribed to Raz-Kids. Raz-Kids is a collection of hundreds of levelled books that you can access online. The program is designed to find books at the right skill level for your child and then test them on their comprehension of the story or text. Students can chose to have the story read to them, or they can read it themselves. The students can also use the microphone to record themselves reading at home. This recording can be accessed by the teacher to see a student's progress. When a child has reached a new reading level they will move up in the system and have access to new books. http://www.raz-kids.com/main/Login Click here and enter the user name: k1dalian Then find your child's name.
When you're logged in you can select books to read, or complete assignments. Students can also spend the points they earn by creating a robot. This helps keep them motivated and exited to read every day.

Hello Parents, November is here. With the excitement of Halloween behind us, we begin some new and exciting themes at school. We will be studying dinosaurs in class this month. Ms. Wu and I are looking into a possible field trip relating to our dinosaur theme. November is also special month as we take time to remember those men and women who have fought throughout history, in many different countries, to protect the freedoms of citizens throughout the world. Remembrance Day is on November 11th in Canada and we will do some activities this month to remember the people who helped us be able to enjoy the freedom we have today. Autumn is well under way and days are cooler. Layering is a good way to keep your child warm at school, just please make sure they are wearing white under their uniform shirts.
