December, Kindergarten Mr. Wisdom Hello Parents, December is here. It is going to be a short month of school, packed with exciting activities. We will be continuing studying dinosaurs in class and maybe even have a fossil dig at school. Ms. Wu and I are taking the kindergarten students to Euro Bake with their grade 4 buddies. We will be making pizzas and gingerbread houses! Keep your eyes open for the permission slip in your child’s backpack. December is also a month of celebrating the holiday season. As the weather outside gets colder, we warm our classrooms with music and fun. Mr. Takach is preparing the students for Dalian Winter Concert on December 19. Make sure to save the date on your calendar. We are also having a theme day on December 23, the last day of classed before the holidays. The temperatures outside are getting very cold. It is very important for your child to have warm coats, hats and gloves, which are easy for them to put on. I saw many cold fingers and ears today! Please make sure your child is prepared to play outside in the wind and snow. Also, please label everything that your child brings to school. Kindergarten students still have a difficult time recognizing their own belongings. With so many items to keep track of, the lost and found is filling up again. Take the time tonight to write your child’s name and grade in all of their personal items. Raz Kids- Thanks to funds that were raised by our school store, our class has been given a subscription to RAZ-Kids.com. This website gives our students access to 100’s of leveled books at school and at home. It also helps students develop reading skills and sends feedback to the teachers and parents. RAZ-Kids will be a part of our home reading program for term 2. Please send me any feedback or questions our may have had while trying to access the site. Your child should be reading for 15-20 minutes or more each weeknight (Mon-Fri) as part of their homework. Go to raz-kids.com and log on as user: k1dalian and find your child’s name.
